About
Sunny Hill Elementary is one of eight elementary schools in the Barrington 220 School District, serving grades K-5. The school mascot is the Tiger. Sunny Hill opened in 1954 as a K-8 school. At that time, the building sat on a hill surrounded by farms to the north, east and south. It is said Sunny Hill received its name from a family who was walking up the hill to school on a sunny day. Today, Sunny Hill serves as a hub in the Carpentersville community. Barrington 220’s Bilingual Parents Advisory Council (BPAC) holds its meetings and events at Sunny Hill. It is also a club site for the Boys and Girls Club of Dundee Township. In 2022 the Illinois State Board of Education granted Sunny Hill the Phillip Jackson Freedom Schools Grant, which is used to enhance students’ after school and summer enrichment offerings.
